Free Initial Consultation
Expert Assessment & Strategic Plan – $3,000
The App Doctor will spend some time getting to know your team, your app(s), and your business problems. Together, we will develop a general plan of how to achieve your short and long-term app goals. We will establish the key questions that need to be answered, the purpose and objectives of the initial research to be conducted, and determine the methods and tools best suited to your case.
Research & Testing Iteration Cycle – $15,000 per cycle†
The App Doctor will identify and develop the appropriate materials (e.g. surveys, interview questions, usability test protocols, app metrics & A/B test variants) to probe the key questions we identified for your current development cycle. He will then conduct research, testing, and experiments in collaboration with your team and either screened research participants* or your existing users.
Following each round of learning, The App Doctor will debrief your team, deliver a summary of findings, and collaborate on a prioritized list of issues identified with possible solutions to implement and test in the following development cycle.
Your team will gain valuable insights into how users in your target audience experience your product. The opportunities uncovered by our research and testing will generate ideas for improvements that can make a significant difference to your revenues, customer satisfaction, retention, and user engagement. In many cases, the learnings will also resolve disagreements within your team, help you clarify your feature set, and reduce the burden on customer support.
Custom Workshop – $ Cost Varies
The App Doctor loves to teach development teams how to conduct research & testing themselves, and practice user-centered software design and data-driven development. This allows him to assist more clients and help spread good practices in the software industry. In-person workshops are priced on a case-by-case basis, depending on your needs, the format, and other factors.
* Costs of recruiting suitable research participants in your target audience are not included in The App Doctor’s fee. Depending on your needs, the App Doctor will sometimes recruit participants directly, and at other times will work with a 3rd party recruiting agency.
† Two-cycle minimum so that we can identify issues in one cycle, and then implement and validate solution hypotheses in the next cycle. How long a development cycle lasts depends on your team’s existing processes, but a month is reasonable for each build/measure/learn iteration.
Please note that any emergency procedures performed outside of normal business hours will incur additional costs to be agreed upon in advance. The same applies to The App Doctor’s travel expenses for any required travel outside of the NYC metro area.
